Red Letter Day

No more secrets no more lies
See right through your alibis
Take a look into my eyes
No more secrets no more lies

-Papa Roach | No More Secrets

Today is the day where I can let the truth out and it feels damn good. We have merged with Littleton, MA-based, Prospero. In case you haven't heard of them (shame on you if you haven't - LOL) they are a white label community provider that has a heavy footprint in the media/consumer industry (ABC, Fox, iVillage, NBC, Hallmark.)

I did an interview with our President and CEO, Rick Faulk along with Prospero co-founder and now SVP of Product Planning for Mzinga, Rusty Williams. My buddy and new colleague, Colin Browning helped me do the interview. The message from the two of them is simple - this deal rocks! I can't help feel the same way.

Here are three reasons I like this deal... A LOT!

  1. Prospero brings a great set o clients and an even better technology solution (hello APIs and widgets). This is like the friend that comes over to watch the game and unexpectedly stops to pick up subs and a 12-pack of Newcastle.
  2. The people are awesome. I knew a few of the folks at Prospero before we decided to join forces. They were indicative of the rest of the folks there. I look forward to hanging with my 40+ new colleagues.
  3. We've created a real leadership position in the industry. With projected revenues of $30M+ this year, we've become the 800 lb. gorilla in the business social media space. Being a leader is a nice place to be.

So far the early press has been positive. I hope we keep rolling that way:

Oh, btw, we're doing a virtual "tweet-up" to talk about the merger and what this means to the world of white-labled community, business social media, and social networking software players in general.

I'm @astrout if you want to join the conversation. We'll denote the discussion with #mz.
