My SXSW Elevator Pitch "Hey, what's Mzinga? What do you do?"
"We build beehives..."
"Really? [smiling] I didn't realize there was market for beehives?"
"Sure, a lot of companies want beehives. They need beehives."
"OK, I'll bite! Who are your clients?"
"ESPN, Fox, Chevron, WebEx, iVillage, Deloitte, iRise... just to name a few."
"You've got to be kidding me!?!?"
"Well sort of... we build metaphorical beehives... online communities."
"Ahh, now I get it. Well, how are you different from everyone else?"
"We help enterprises embrace the concept of 'pervasive community'in their business... the concept that all of their consituents, whether they're employees, customers, prospects or partners will be happier and more efficient if they have a way of striking up a conversation with your brand. This can happen on your web site, in community dedicated to a specific group, and/or on an extranet or intranet."
"Gotcha. Where'd the name come from?"
"Mzinga is swahili for beehive. We like the symbolism and were able to get the domain. [smiling]"
"[Laughs] Well alright! Let's go get some BBQ!"
