SXSW Conversations with Mzinga - Part 2 This is the second in a series of podcast we recorded at the Conversation Starters party at SXSW on 3/10/08. If you're new to the series, you'll probably want to jump back to the first post to get the back story and listen to the first five. If you've just come from there or already listened to "session one" let's get started!
Lionel Menchaca - @lionel_menchaca on Twitter Early in the evening, I noticed @richardatdell was at the party and mentioned to Aaron that we should try to line up a podcast with him. Well, we got started recording on the 2nd floor and I lost track of the line-up. I didn't even know Lionel was in the house! Before long he joined us at the table and it was an incredible conversation. We learned about Ideastorm and how it impacts back end processes at Dell and talked about his work as the Head Blogger at Direct2Dell. Lionel was really open about sharing what he'd experienced and learned along the way. Lionel - I'm not sure how we connected with you, but I really appreciate you spending time speaking with us! Lionel was another person I was meeting for the first time, btw. Download this podcast or stream below.
Scott Monty - @scottmonty on Twitter I've followed Scott on Twitter for a while (read: stalker) and met him late last year at a Social Media Breakfast held in Boston. We then co-presented on a panel last month on "How Twitter Changed My Life" with @pistachio and @dough. Scott is scholarly in his trademark blazer and carefully pressed slacks, always ready to show off his sharp wit. He calls the festival a "family reunion", has never been to a conference where he's gotten so many hugs from strangers and recommends a "go with the flow" approach when attending the event. You'll have to listen to find out what his real passion is (revealed in the waining moments of the interview). Download this podcast or stream below.
Liz Strauss - @lizstrauss on Twitter If you've been paying attention, you'd know I first met Liz when Chris Brogan collected her with his Pide Piper routine on the way to Stubbs for dinner on Sunday night. The word on the street is that Chris has "comment envy" of Liz, who has close to 60k comments on her blog. You don't get that many comments unless you're wise (and a legend). When we sat down with Liz the bar noise seemed to be hitting a peak, so crank up the volume and enjoy the wisdom. Download this podcast or stream below.
Laura Fitton - @pistachio on Twitter I have a really hard typing, let alone calling Pistachio "Laura." If CB is the Mayor of Twitterville, Pistachio is Madonna. Chris is the self-professed "Beekeeper" and Laura is the entertainer. But the word I think really describes her is energetic. I don't want to hear stories of Pistachio napping on the couches in the Bloghaus (blasphemy!). Pistachio shares some pearls in this highly energetic encounter, including the importance of listening in social media. Download this podcast or stream below.
Chris Heuer - @chrisheuer on Twitter I met Chris at the Community 2.0 Conference last year in Las Vegas and was impressed by the how many projects he had going on. Social Media Club. The Conversation Group. The Social Media Playbook. Wow! He talks about the importance of barbeque. He also talks about the importance of barbeque. And did I mention he talks about the importance of barbeque? Sounds like he has his priorities in the right place. Download this podcast or stream below.
We have more podcasts for tomorrow, our last post of the SXSW Conversations with Mzinga series. Look for conversations with Jake McKee, Robert Miggins, Dave Olson, Joshua Porter, Mike McDerment and a special "never been interviewed before" guest. Ooooooh, the anticipation!
