This year, Alfresco, MZinga, Accellion and SpringCM, among others, have been named in the second annual report.

Content Management and Collaboration

Aragon Research, created by former Gartner analysts Jim Lundy and Mike Anderson, has named 24 companies in its Hot Vendors report. They're broken down into four groups:

Content Management and Collaboration

Content Authoring

Mobile

Real time Collaboration and Communication

Alfresco, MZinga, Accellion and SpringCM all fall into the top two categories, with MZinga in the content authoring spot. Hot Vendors in the Content Management and Collaboration segment were chosed because they tackle some or all of the themes of cloud, ease of use, integration and security.

MZinga was named a Hot Vendor due to its authoring tools, and not its more well known social marketing and social learning tools, the report found.

Specifically, MZinga Publisher was singled out as a handy tool for publishing interactive learning courses. Games and assessments can be added to a course, so there is no need for a separate testing application, the report noted. Additionally, MZinga Publisher allows for multiple formats to be included like Application Simulation features from MZinga Firefly.

Aragon recommends companies research the kinds of integrated tools Mzinga builds as a way to speed up content development.

MZinga Publisher 6 debuted in April, and Aragon Research named them a Hot Vendor soon thereafter

Content Authoring

Overall, Aragon recommends enterprises check out new ways to capture and share content, even to the point of using multiple tools. Anything that makes it easy and fast to create content, like tablets for example, should be looked at.

That's why companies like Brainshark were also named in the report. It makes it easy to create multimedia presentations hosted in the cloud, the report found, and its ability to add audio to PowerPoint and Apple Keynote presentations are an added bonus.

Brainshark's SlideShark tool was also singled out as an easy way to view PowerPoint slides on iPhones and iPads. The freemium product allows paying customers the ability to groupcast PowerPoint presentations online.

Vendors in the Mobile and Real time Collaboration and Communication segments included AnyPresence in the former, and FuzeBox and iSpeech in the latter.

The post CMSWire Coverage: Alfresco, MZinga, Accellion and SpringCM Win Hot Vendors Nominations from Aragon Researchers appeared first on Mzinga.

As a result, many companies have redesigned their desktop-based platforms and products to fit this demand. This is a trend that hasn't gone unnoticed by Mzinga, but the company recognizes it hasn't embraced this technology as quickly as it should have.

As the corporate world has evolved to embrace BYOD strategies and challenged their providers to support mobile applications for business critical systems, learning content and content development tools have been slow to embrace these changes,” said Mike Merriman, Director of Strategic Services at Mzinga in a blog post.

This is something Mzinga hopes to change with Publisher 6.0.

As Publisher 6.0 has just been announced, there are only a few features that have been introduced, such as a more mobile-friendly system and a redesigned user interface.

More specifically, Publisher 6.0, will have a cleaner, more modern design, according to Merriman that aims to increase productivity, along with the mentioned mobile changes. With these new mobile capabilities, users can choose which type of device, desktop, tablet or phone, they want to start a project from. If they choose mobile, they have HTML5 support on any mobile or tablet device including iPads, Android phones, iPhones and Notes.

Additional features are expected to be announced later this month, with a full product release in May.

So, What is Mzinga Publisher?

As a content authoring tool, Mzinga Publisher is web-based collaboration product designed for interactive e-learning. Part of the OmniSocial Content suite of products, the collection is designed to help users learn about their digital environment and improve productivity. Publisher is made up of “behind the scenes collaboration features” that include blogs, a team presence monitor, chats, tagging capabilities and task management reports.

Other products included in the OmniSocial suite are Firefly for performance and productivity and Custom Content Development Services, an outsourcing and augmentation tool.

The Complete Mzinga Puzzle

The OmniSocial Content Products aren't the only products that Mzinga offers. They've recently introduced the OmniSocial Engaged platform to help with customer engagement which joins OmniSocial Learning rich learning management and performance products, and OmniSocial Insure for social brand protection, social media strategies and intelligence action.

The post CMSWire Coverage: Mzinga Publisher 6.0: Now Mobile Friendly for Better Learning Experiences appeared first on Mzinga.

Over the course of the next several days, the Mzinga offices in Burlington, MA and Mechanicsburg, PA will be affected by Hurricane Sandy. The extent to which we will be impacted is unknown at this time but we felt it was important to communicate the following to our customers:

All Mzinga customers are hosted in either our Level3 or Terremark data centers. Both centers are robust facilities, with generator backup capabilities, if/when needed. We anticipate no interruption to your LMS and/or Community-based platforms. In the event a power condition occurs, we will communicate with you ASAP.

Above all else, we value our staff and their safety. We have instructed them to stay safe and work from home if needed. This could cause delays in ticket processing and customer interaction in general. We ask that you continue to submit tickets as needed through electronic means and please reserve the phone option for critical issues (i.e. site outages).

We appreciate your support over the next several days and will keep the lines of communication open to the best of our abilities.

For those customers on the East Coast, please stay safe!

Report by Mzinga, Teradata Aster and the Center for Complexity in Business at the University of Maryland provides insight on social software and big data analytics

Burlington, MA - August 7, 2012 - Teradata (NYSE: TDC), the analytic data solutions company, and Mzinga® (http://www.mzinga.com), a pioneer in social intelligence solutions, services, and analytics for business, today announced the results of a recent industry survey exploring the use of social technologies and big data analytics in business.

Conducted in conjunction with Teradata Aster and the Center for Complexity in Business (CCB) at the University of Maryland, the survey?s primary goal was to create an industry benchmarking report providing professionals with insight into the adoption, use and current state of social business software and big data analytics in businesses.

"The survey results indicate that a wide variety of industries are interested in analytics and the power that analytics can provide them in making business decisions," said William Rand, assistant professor and director, Center for Complexity in Business. "However, there seems to be a lack of knowledge of how to best implement analytics, and a lack of consistent support for analytics across different platforms. This indicates a strong market need for education and consistent implementation of world-class analytic systems."

Eighty percent of survey respondents reported using social technologies in one or more areas of business, including marketing, employee collaboration, customer service and support and sales. Other survey findings include:

While the majority of businesses currently utilize social technologies, opportunities exist to attain maximum impact and greater ROI by developing customer and marketing strategies to target trust and influence in their business

While business are attaining some value through social technologies, 49 percent state that they are not using social technologies to their full potential, while only 12 percent of respondents acknowledge that social technologies have helped in their day-to-day roles and responsibilities

The top use cases for social technologies that will impact areas of trust and influence include customer experience, service or support; marketing or brand experience; employee collaboration and knowledge sharing; and sales

As greater emphasis is placed on the impact of social technologies, professionals are struggling to understand analytics and how to measure ROI and value in their business

75 percent of respondents do not measure ROI for their social business programs, while the majority of use occurs on a case-by-case basis

Of those who do not measure ROI, 31 percent don?t know if their vendor provides analytics, 14 percent have a vendor who does not provide analytics, and 44 percent do not work with a vendor for analytics at all

Some respondents also are unaware of what information analytics can provide, whereas others state a desire for more thorough, advanced training on their analytics? capabilities

Many participants claimed to be influential in their company?s adoption of social technologies but were unaware of how their use could be successfully measured, or stated that analytics were too difficult

As organizations seek to gain business intelligence through data analytics, market opportunity exists to provide greater accuracy, insight and performance from social technologies

Big data technologies are still ahead of the market: 42 percent of respondents are unfamiliar with big data technologies

Respondents realize the importance of analyzing and gleaning insights from social interactions happening in real time, but are unable to indicate a time frame in which they will implement a solution to do so

The top metrics respondents want in a big data solution include customer feedback and preferences; user, behavioral and content trend analysis; and ROI

"The Center for Complexity in Business at the University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business is focused on applying top-level computational methods to today's modern business problems, and so working with Mzinga and Teradata Aster on this project was a natural fit for the Center. Teradata Aster is a discovery platform that allows organizations to execute analytics on large datasets, while Mzinga is a leader in the area of social business software. The thought leadership represented in this report is really the product of a set of truly innovative partners," added Rand.

The survey was conducted online in the spring of 2012 and drew more than 500 participants from a wide variety of professional disciplines and industries, including media, financial services, consulting, marketing, human resources, engineering, and others.

The industry survey report exploring the use of social technologies and big data analytics in business can be downloaded at: http://www2.mzinga.com/survey2012

The three organizations will hold a joint webcast to provide additional information and discussion of the survey results on August 9, 2012.
